Airbus held at Nantporth in 1st leg of Europa League Qualifier

Airbus UK were left rueing missed chances as they only secured a draw against FK Haugesund of Norway at the Book People Stadium on Thursday night.

The Broughton boys deservedly took the lead after 29 minutes as Jordan Johnson took full advantage of Chris Budrys’ efficient build up play but 2 minutes before the break Daniel Jose Bamberg beat James Coates from 20 yards to secure an important away goal for the Norwegian outfit.

Haugesund grew in confidence during the second period but chances were few and far between for either side. Bamberg almost stole the victory for the visitors but Coates pulled off an excellent save with 4 minutes remaining.

The Wingmakers were eliminated on the away goals rule last season having secured two draws against FK Ventspils so Andy Preece’s men know that they will have to score in Norway next week to have any chance of progressing in the competition.

Attendance 595.

Collodd Airbus gyfle gwych i hawlio’u buddugoliaeth gyntaf erioed yn Ewrop nos Iau. Er i Jordan Johnson roi bechgyn Brychdyn ar y blaen wedi 29 munud, sicrhaodd ergyd Daniel Jose Bamberg o 20 llath gôl oddi cartref bwysig i FK Haugesund.

Yr ymwelwyr reolodd y meddiant yn yr ail hanner ond prin fu’r cyfleoedd i’r ddau dîm wedi troi.

Bu bron i ergyd Bamberg gipio’r fuddugoliaeth i Haugesund gyda 4 munud ar ôl ond arbedodd Coates yn gwbl gampus.

Er mai dwy gêm gyfartal gafwyd yn erbyn FK Ventspils y tymor diwethaf – colli ar goliau oddi cartref fu hanes bechgyn Brychdyn ac maent yn gwybod bod yn rhaid iddynt sgorio yn Norwy nos Iau nesaf er mwyn cael unrhyw obaith o barhau’n y gystadleuaeth.

Torf 595.
