Cortez Belle scored the winner for Town
Cortez Belle headed the only goal of the match to condemn the Lilywhites to their third defeat in four at Richmond Park on Saturday.
Belle rose highest at 67th minute corner from the Carmarthen Town right to power home and give the Old Gold victory in a match the Lilywhites were unlucky to see no reward.
In the first half the home side attacked the Lillywhites and, but for three excellent saves from Alex Ramsay, could have taken at least a one-goal lead into the break.
Despite the Old Gold's superiority early on, Rhyl forced their way back into the match and, despite failing to create any clear-cut chances of note, could have taken the lead but Dave Forbes fluffed his lines when well placed.
In the secdond period it was a different story as the L:ilywhites enjoyed more of the ball and felt they could have had a penalty when eventual match winner Belle clearly handled on the edge of the home area.
It was at least a free-kick, if not a penalty, but play was waved on and Carmarthen survived.
Despite having more of the ball, the Lilywhites could not find the extra bit of craft to unlock the Old Gold defence and at times surrendered possession back too cheaply when in dangerous positions.
A lack of a killer final proved to be their undoing when Belle scored the winner but, nevertheless, the Lilywhites showed some improvement and some promise.
