Wingmakers crash out on Away Goals Rule

(1-1 on aggregate - Ventspils win on the away goals rule)

Airbus UK Broughton have crashed out of the Europa League on the away goals rule, despite not losing either leg in their first ever European campaign.

The Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League runners-up arrived at the Ventspils Olimpiskais Centrs having drawn 1-1 in the home leg last Thursday, knowing that they needed a goal on Latvian soil.

In an evenly contested first half, it remained goalless, despite five shots from both sides, two of which were on target from each. The Wingmakers even had the ball in the back of the net, but it was ruled offside by Andorran referee Ignasi Villamayor Rozados.

After 73 minutes, striker Chris Budrys came close for Airbus, but the burly Scot who scored last week, just missed the target. Then, at the other end, Kozlovs' shot was blocked. Wingmakers boss Andy Preece made three substitues to freshen his side up with Nicky Ward, Ryan Wade and Jordan Johnson replacing Tom Field, Wayne Riley and Budrys, but the visitors were unable to make the breakthrough and despite not losing either match, they crash out in the cruellest of ways, on the away goals rule.
