FAW Statement Regarding Alleged Racism

The Football Association of Wales has recently concluded its extensive investigation into the alleged comments of a racist nature during the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League match between Airbus UK and Bangor City on 20/4/2013.

The alleged incident involved Bangor City’s Gary O’Toole and Tom Field of Airbus. Following a full and thorough investigation, the FAW has determined that no further disciplinary action will be taken in this matter.

The FAW has a zero tolerance policy towards racism in any form and has long campaigned to eradicate racism from football. As a member of UEFA, the Football Association of Wales took part in the UEFA Congress in London in May 2013 where a resolution was adopted emphasising European football’s determination to eliminate racism from the game and increase the penalty for any proven acts of racism against players, supporters and clubs.

European football’s governing body has forged a close partnership with the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network which comprises groups and bodies working against intolerance and discrimination across the continent.
