Nomads Secure Play Off Place and Other Results

The Nomads secured their Europa League Play Off place despite losing to a late Mark Connolly header which secured Bala's 10th consecutive League victory. Back in February, Mark McGregor’s boys thought that they’d secured a place in the Play Offs when they beat Bala 6-3 before they were deducted a point for fielding an ineligible player, which consigned them to the Play Off Conference for the second part of the season. However in a largely uneventful affair on Saturday afternoon the Nomads defended bravely before conceding the only goal of the game with 30 seconds remaining. Both sides will have to do it all again next weekend as they meet at Maes Tegid with a Semi Final Play Off place at stake

Newtown’s European aspirations are over for another season. They failed to take advantage of Gap’s defeat as Chris Hartland’s 12th goal of the season in the final 10 minutes secured all 3 points for the Lido.

Despite their defeat at the GenQuip, Airbus officially confirmed that their first ever European adventure will happen over the summer months. The Wingmakers had all but secured their Europa League place last weekend due to their vastly superior goal-difference compared to Bangor City but the Citizen’s defeat against The New Saints dotted the i‘s and crossed the t’s for Andy Preece’s men. Port Talbot had already cemented their 4th place in the League before the match – and they already knew that they had secured a home tie in the Play Off Semi Finals before Dave Brooks’ late effort bagged the 3 points.

The Champions made it 11 consecutive Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League victories as they beat Bangor City for the 4th time in a row on their own patch. Two goals in 3 first half minutes put the Saints firmly in the driving seat. Aeron Edwards converted Ryan Fraughan’s inviting cross after 25 minutes and Michael Johnston put the ball into his own net 3 minutes later.
Les Davies gave the Citizen’s a great start to the second half as he pulled one back in the 47th minute but substitute Alex Darlington netted twice to record another victory for the Champions.

An Anthony Stephens strike after 74 minutes secured Prestatyn’s first ever Phase 2 victory and also confirmed a fifth place finish for the Seasiders. The home side took the lead after 6 minutes through Dave Hayes before Geoff Kellaway equalised for Carmarthen half way through the opening period. The result secured home advantage for Prestatyn against ‘The Old Gold’ in the Play Off Semi Final - if Bangor win the Welsh Cup. However if Prestatyn beat Bangor in the Final on May 6th they will secure their Europa League berth and Carmarthen will have to travel to Port Talbot in the Semi Finals.

Wedi buddugoliaeth hwyr iawn Y Bala yn erbyn Gap Gei Connah brynhawn Sadwrn – ‘rydym yn gwybod bellach y bydd y ddau dîm yn cyfarfod unwaith eto ym Maes Tegid y Sadwrn nesaf gyda lle yn Rownd Gynderfynol y Gemau Ail gyfle yn y fantol. Ddechrau’r prynhawn ‘roedd gan Y Drenewydd obaith o barhau eu tymor pe byddai Gap yn colli yn Y Bala – ond fe gollodd tîm Bernie McNally yn erbyn Lido Afan ar Barc Latham. Er gwaethaf buddugoliaeth Port Talbot ar y GenQuip cadarnhawyd bod Airbus wedi sicrhau eu lle yng Nghynghrair Europa’n swyddogol am y tro cyntaf yn eu hanes a bod Port Talbot yn sicr o gêm gartref yn Rownd Gynderfynol y Gemau Ail Gyfle. Enillodd Y Seintiau Newydd eu hunfed gêm gynghrair ar ddeg o’r bron wrth iddyn nhw guro Bangor yn Stadiwm Book People ac ‘roedd llwyddiant cyntaf erioed Prestatyn yn ail ran y tymor yn ddigon i sicrhau’r 5ed safle’n y Cynghrair iddyn nhw.
