Saturday Results - Lido Relegated

Bangor drew level on points with second placed Airbus UK following Saturday’s victory over Carmarthen Town at The Book People Stadium.
After claiming the midweek winner at Prestatyn, Chris Simm continued his scoring streak by netting the opening goal of the game after 13 minutes of play – his 21st goal of his first Corbett Sports WPL campaign.
Siôn Edwards’ injury time breakaway effort secured the victory for Neville Powell’s team.
The Citizens travel to Broughton next Saturday for a crucial match in the race to clinch the second automatic European place – a game which will be shown live on S4/C.

After securing their first ever Welsh Cup Final appearance last week, Prestatyn Town once again failed to gain their first ever Phase 2 victory as Port Talbot emphatically came from behind at the GenQuip Stadium. Recent Seasiders’ recruit Mark Smyth scored the opening goal after 18 minutes of play before a David Brooks penalty 12 minutes before the break restored parity following a Chris Davies challenge on Lloyd Grist.
It only took just over a minute of the second half for Martin Rose to put the home side ahead and the busy striker beat Hill-Dunt again from close range 6 minutes later. The last goal of the game proved to be the best as substitute Carl Payne curled his effort from the edge of the box into the Prestatyn net with 6 minutes left of play.

As Bala took another stride towards securing the European play off place – Afan Lido lost their battle for Corbett Sports WPL survival at Maes Tegid. The victory was secured during the opening period as Ian Sheridan, Stuart Jones and John Irving put their scoring boots to good effect.
An early second half deflected shot by Mark Jones made it four but Lee Hunt failed to make it five as he missed his penalty.

Gap Connah’s Quay’s recent failure to record a WPL victory came to an end at the Deeside Stadium. The Nomads’ last league victory came at Stebonheath on February the 23rd and although Dylan Blain gave the visitors the perfect start after 4 minutes, Mike Hayes and captain for the day, Danny Forde replied for the home side before the break.
Two second half goals by Hayes and Jamie Petrie kept the Nomads’ dream of catching Bala in seventh place alive while Nicky Holland’s late goal proved to be of some consolation to Llanelli.

Newtown remain in the relegation zone following a goal-less encounter in front of the S4/C cameras at Park Avenue. Aberystwyth are still 2 points ahead of Bernie McNally’s men in the table but have played one game more than their Mid Wales counterparts.

Llwyddodd Bangor i ddod yn gyfartal ar bwyntiau gydag Airbus, sy’n yr ail safle, yn dilyn eu buddugoliaeth o 2-0 yn erbyn Caerfyrddin ond doedd y prynhawn ddim cystal i Lido Afan wrth i’w colled drom yn Y Bala olygu eu bod yn disgyn o UGC Corbett Sports. Mae llwyddiant clwb Maes Tegid o 4-0 yn erbyn Lido yn cryfhau eu gafael ar y seithfed safle pwysig yn y tabl.
Cadwodd Gap Cei Connah y pwysau ar Y Bala wrth iddyn nhw drechu Llanelli o 4-2 ond doedd dim goliau ar Goedlan y Parc – canlyniad fydd ddim yn plesio Aberystwyth na’r Drenewydd wrth i’r ddau dîm geisio osgoi disgyn o’r Cynghrair.
Cafwyd buddugoliaeth mwyaf swmpus y prynhawn wrth i Bort Talbot guro Prestatyn o 4-1 yn Stadiwm GenQuip.
