Welsh Cup Semi-Final Details Announced

The Football Association of Wales have this afternoon announced the details of the Welsh Cup Semi-Final matches.

The live television cameras will be heading to Rhyl's Belle Vue Stadium to broadcast the mouthwatering clash between Nev Powell's Bangor City and the current holders TNS (3:00pm kick-off).

Powell was pleased with the news when he was told this lunchtime and said; "We've always received a warm welcome at Rhyl, it's a decent pitch and it's a very good stadium so I'm sure it will be a great advert for the Competition."

"A lot of people wanted this as their Final, but we've be drawn together in the semi and I'm looking forward to it. I've never met TNS in the Welsh Cup with Bangor, so it's a first for me."

Powell has an incredible Welsh Cup record with the Citizens, having won the competition in his first three years in charge of the club, they were then beaten Finalists in his fourth year. They were knocked out in Round 3 last year, but have now reached the semi-final stage once more, meaning a fifth semi-final appearance in six seasons at the club.

The Saints also have a very proud recent record and have reached the semi-final for the last three seasons. As current holders, they are on a run of eight matches unbeaten, their last defeat coming in Aberystwyth when Llanelli, who went on to win the Competition that year, beat the Saints 1-0 in April 2011.

The other semi-final between Prestatyn Town and Welsh League side Barry Town, will be played at Newtown's Latham Park with a 2:30pm kick-off.

The Seasiders will go into that game favourites to reach their first Final, but the story of Barry Town has been one of great success. Despite continued concerns regarding their off-the-field situation, the former League Champions, who last won the Welsh Cup in 2002/03 against Cwmbran Town, continue to fly the flag for the lower Leagues and are sure to take a large contingent to Powys for arguably their biggest game since that Welsh Cup win back in May 2003.
