Ryan Fraughan scored for the Saints

The New Saints took a huge stride towards retaining their Corbett Sports WPL crown as they beat their closest rivals to open a 10 point lead at the top of the table.
Ryan Fraughan and his twinkling feet opened the scoring for the Champions after 20 minutes - converting his team's first effort on goal. Five minutes later Alex Darlington won and scored a penalty for the visitors - putting them firmly in the driving seat with his 12th WPL goal of the season.
Airbus responded to the support of their bumper crowd - a result of their hard work in the community - and two minutes before the break Chris Budrys beat Paul Harrison to set up a mouth-watering second period.
Unfortunately the second half didn't quite live up to expectations - and when Wayne Riley's 65th minute effort struck the post - the writing was on the wall for the Wingmakers.
A landmark victory for TNS as they took a significant step towards another Corbett Sports WPL title - but their Director of Football Craig Harrison refused to accept that the title is already theirs. He told the Sgorio cameras "I'm not going to be drawn on that. We've still got eight games left and we want to win every game. Full stop".

An 11th minute Les Davies goal was enough to secure Bangor's first Corbett Sports WPL victory in 10 attempts. This was The Old Gold's first fixture in Phase 2 this season and they did seem slightly ring rusty. Their best chance fell to Paul Fowler but he failed to score and also failed to stop Bangor registering their long overdue victory and brought and end to Neville Powell's worst run since taking the helm at Nanporth.

Following their thumping at Park Hall last week - Port Talbot registered an important victory at Bastion Gardens. Chad Bond's 9th minute goal was enough to secure the points although they had to defend their slender lead for large periods of the second half. The Steelmen's victory sees them close the gap on Prestatyn in fifth place to a solitary point - and this was their first League victory to the north of Aberystwyth since April 2010. The Seasiders are still searching for their first ever Phase 2 victory in the WPL and finished the match with 10 men as Anthony Stephens was sent off with 4 minutes left of play. They have now failed to register a win in their last six Corbett Sports WPL games.

Bala's impressive start to Phase 2 continue at the Marston's Stadium on Saturday. Following their win at Aberystwyth last weekend - a strong Lee Hunt header after only 2 minutes put them on the road to victory against Afan Lido. Colin Caton's team dominated the game and the only surprise was the fact that it took until the 87th minute for the visitors to double their advantage when Mark Connolly found the net and consolidated his team's position in 7th place.

Following their 1 point deduction - Gap Connah's Quay did their talking on the pitch as they secured their second victory of the season at Stebonheath. Mike Robinson's goal on the half our mark secured the three points for Mark McGregor's side and takes the Nomads into 8th position in the table - demoting their hosts to 9th. The Nomads have now beaten Llanelli in all three of their League meetings this season.

Newtown were hoping to replicate both victories over Aber during the Christmas period but the fans witnessed a stalemate at Latham Park on Saturday. The visitors struck the woodwork twice during the first half but both teams failed to find the net. This result still leaves Tomi Morgan's men in the relegation zone with Newtown ahead of them on goal difference.
