Ashley Evans (red) in action for Llanelli
Port Talbot Town have announced two new signings, having successfully swooped for Llanelli duo Ashley Evans and the returning Martin Rose.
The club announced the following statement on Saturday afternoon;
"Port Talbot Town are delighted to announce that the club have strengthened its squad with two signings from Llanelli.
Ashley Evans joins returning Steelman Martin Rose in moving to the GenQuip, as the club move to bolster its squad for the second phase of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League.
"Former favourite Rose opted to cut short his stay at Llanelli, after leaving the Steelmen during the summer, whilst midfielder Ashley Evans also signs with the club, ending a three-year association with Llanelli, having originally moved to the club from Neath.
Manager Scott Young believes the two new signings will generate competition for places amongst his squad.
“We need to create competition all over the park. Jeff White’s done well leading the line all season, so we need to bring someone in with a bit more experience to help him out. We’ve also got young Adam Wright who’s in his first year at this level and is a different type of player, so Martin Rose gives us another option to lead the line,” he said.
“I think Ashley Evans is one of the best players in the division so obviously it gives stiff competition for the rest of the boys and we’ll hopefully now have stiff competition all over the park,” explained Young.
“He’s available for selection next weekend for the Bangor game and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Martin Rose will once again wear the number nine shirt, whilst Ashley Evans will four.
