Bradford City's incredible run to English football's League Cup Final will see a former Welsh Premier League player lead his Bantams side out at Wembley next month.

The Bradford City captain and combatative midfielder Gary Jones, was a Birkenhead-based player with Caernarfon Town in the League in the 1996/97 season under John Aspinall. He played 24 times for the Cofis in that campaign, scoring once as the Canaries finished fourth behind Champions Barry Town, Inter Cardiff and Ebbw Vale.

His performances in the League caught the eye of Swansea City and he moved to the Vetch Field the following season. He went on to make just eight Football League appearances for the Swans, before moving on to Rochdale for £200,000. He made 160 League apperances there, before a switch to Barnsley in November 2001. Two years and 56 League appearances later he returned to Rochdale in 2004 where he was made captain and he made a further 325 (+50) League appearances.

Bantams manager Phil Parkinson signed Jones in the summer, installed him as club captain and he has been outstanding for the League 2 club on their road to Wembley, which included a Man of the Match performance in the Quarter-Final win over Arsenal.

The Welsh Premier League wishes Gary the very best of luck on Sunday 24th February at Wembley.
