Llanelli AFC Chairman Nitin Parekh has made the following statement this afternoon.

"Llanelli AFC announces today that Andy Legg and Stephen Jenkins have left the Club with immediate effect. The Club has been undergoing a tax investigation, which has put considerable strain on the Club. Andy and Stephen felt that they could no longer effectively carry out their duties and asked to leave. We are extremely disappointed, but wish them well. Andy has been a great supporter of the Club, both as a player and manager, and had a close relationship with those that ran the Club. On behalf of everyone at Stebo, we would like to thank him for all that he has done on and off the pitch."

"Bob Jeffrey, the Head of the Academy will take responsibility for the First team with immediate effect, with Gary Lloyd as the Assistant Manager. Bob holds the necessary licences required of the League, and the Club will encourage Gary to complete his A Licence at the first available opportunity.

"Bob’s appointment is in line with the Club’s policy of promoting as much as possible from within. Many of you will be well aware of the excellent role he has played in developing the Llanelli Academy from virtually nothing in 2006 to over 200 kids today. This appointment continues our philosophy of putting the Club back into the Community. I sincerely hope that everyone will get behind Bob and Gary and extend them your full support

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters, players and staff who have continued to stand by the Club at this difficult time. We have as a matter of principle, not made any comments on the tax situation, but what we can say is that we have an impeccable record of paying our tax in full and honestly over the past several years. The Club is run in a manner that insists upon the highest levels of probity and integrity. We hope that this situation will be resolved in the near future and we can return to issues that matter most – performance on the pitch."
