Old Gold pick up first win of the season

MD3 kicks-off with a win for Carmarthen Town at Richmond Park and a goalless draw between the new boys.

Carmarthen Town 2-1 Airbus UK Broughton

Mark Jones (13 pen), Kyle Bassett (73)
Tony Gray (21)

The Wingmakers went down to a 2-1 defeat away to Carmarthen Town at Richmond Park.

Airbus travelled without injured duo Ashley Williams and Ryan Wignall, but manager Andrew Thomas handed starts to midweek signings Tom Matthews and Jamie Menagh.

Although the visitors made a bright start and won two early corners, it was the Old Gold who took the lead on 13 minutes when Paul Connolly brought down Mark Jones in the box and the home striker scored from the resulting spot kick.

The lead lasted just eight minutes before Tony Gray took advantage of some slack Carmarthen defending to bring the scores level.

But hopes of at least a point from the long journey were dashed when Kyle Bassett prodded home for what proved to be the winner on 73 minutes.

Cefn Druids 0-0 Cardiff Met University

Cardiff Met gained their first Welsh Premier point since promotion with a 0-0 draw away to Cefn Druids, a match played at Oswestry's Park Hall.Home debutant Ashley Ruane drew an excellent save from Will Fuller, but the hosts were mainly on the back foot on the second half.

Eliot Evans forced Michael Jones into a save with a strong shot from a tight angle before Jones tipped over a Ben Bowler 35-yarder. And Jones made another good save to deny Emlyn Lewis in the last minute.
