Preece delighted with new signing Bassangue

AIRBUS director of football Andy Preece is delighted to have captured the signature of central midfielder Fabio Bassangue after successful pre-season trials.

The 23-year-old Portuguese played for Odivelas as a youth in his native country before signing professional for Portimonense SC on the Algarve.

After scoring five goals from 32 appearances in the Portuguese second division, Bassangue accepted an offer from third division G D Lagoa and notched three goals from his 30 appearances.

After moving to France with his family, he joined his local club Montpellier Arceaux to maintain his fitness levels before moving to the UK to develop his football career.

"Fabio has been with us in pre season and been excellent in all the games," says Wingmakers' director of football Andy Preece.

"He is an all round player that gives us flexibility. A few clubs at a higher level were interested in signing him but we are fortunate he decided to sign for us.

"Alongside our other midfielders we are going to be very strong as he complements them really well.

"It's a really positive signing.

"Bassangue, along with Kevin Monteiro, were brought to our attention by Portuguese scout Nunes, who has been an important contact for us."
