Saints beaten in UCL QR2 first leg

Copenhagen take control after 2-0 win at Park Hall

The New Saints were defeated in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Qualifying Round 2 tie against FC Copenhagen at Park Hall.

Saints fell behind on eighteen minutes after Pieros Sotiriou beat his marker at the near post to turn in Karlo Bartolec's low cross.

Scott Ruscoe's side struggled to impose themselves onto the game for the rest of the first half, although they did have a half chance when Aeron Edwards almost pounced on a loose ball inside the Danish box.

The Danes extended their lead on the hour mark when Sotiriou was fouled by Keston Davies in the penalty area. Robert Skov converted the spot kick which leaves Saints with a lot to do in the return leg next week.
