Lubas win tender for WPL medical provision

2014/15 will see WPL clubs receive professional certified medical provision for FASE 1, FASE 2 and Sports Trauma Management.

Lubas Medical are a highly experienced provider of bespoke medical training and pitch side Paramedics for sport. The company is divided into two main areas of service: Medical Training and Paramedic Support. They have worked with the FAW providing pitch-side Paramedic support for over 15 years.

During the 2014/15 Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League season Lubas will conduct training courses to members of all the 12 WPL clubs in the following areas:

First Aid for Sports & Exercise Basic Level 1 – (FASE 1)

• Approaching an injured person
• Wound workshop
• Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
• Neck / Spinal injury
• Head injuries / concussion
• Medical emergencies
• Putting it all together (assessment)

First Aid for Sports & Exercise Basic Intermediate Level 2 – (FASE 2)

• Assessment and evaluation
• Automated external defibrillation (AED)
• Splinting and immobilisation
• Spinal injury
• Head injuries / concussion
• Structured assessment

Sports Trauma Management

To provide the skills and knowledge for healthcare professionals to manage traumatic sports injuries. This course was originally designed for physiotherapists working in sport and is one of only a few approved by the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine to level 3 (gold level). The course is now suitable for any professional medical support staff working pitch-side.
