Bangor 3-2 Aberystwyth
VSM Bangor City Football Club Stadium
Bangor Scorers: Hewitt 9', Wall 73', Rittenberg 79'
Aberystwyth Scorers: Walker 4', Borrelli 50'
Yet another five-goal thriller between Bangor and Aberystwyth went the way of the Citizens on a chilly Tuesday evening by the Menai Strait.
The temperature may have been cold but the action on the pitch didn't take long to warm up with two goals inside the first ten minutes. Former Citizen Declan Walker opened the scoring for Aber on 4', scrambling home from a corner. Their lead lasted only five minutes as Steven Hewitt, who scored the winner on MD6 at Park Avenue with a brilliant volley, levelled from close range.
Both Hewitt and Luke Wall had chances for Bangor after that, before Dean Rittenberg headed straight at Mullock. At the other end, Aber had an opportunity on the half-hour to retake the lead but Luke Borrelli couldn't connect with John Owen's cross.
Borrelli did connect though five minutes after the restart, finding himself unmarked at the back post to restore Aber's lead. It lasted longer this time, withstanding a period of pressure from the home side before Wall equalised on 73' with a well taken volley.
The decisive goal followed six minutes later, Rittenberg with a neat finish to seal the points for Bangor and send Neville Powell away empty-handed on his first competitive return to his former club.
The win sees Bangor remain in 4th in the table, but close the gap on Cardiff Met in 3rd to one point, with only two points separating the top four.
