The Giant Hospitality Stadium
Llandudno FC Scorer: Danny Hughes 12', Lee Thomas 70'
Prestatyn Town Scorer: Jack Kenny 15', Ben Maher 57'
It hasn't been a bad start to the season for Llandudno at all! Nine points out of nine, no goals conceded in the league up until tonight, plenty of goals scored - this is the challenge Neil Gibson's Prestatyn Town found ahead of them, but how would his spirited young group rise to that challenge?
Alan Morgan's side started positively, on the front foot more or less straight away, as you might expect from them playing at home, with Carl Jones keeping busy in the Prestatyn goal. Llandudno soon had their breakthrough and it looked like it might be a long night for the visitors as Danny Hughes made it 1-0 with an effort that looped over Jones and into the back of the net after 12 minutes.
Gibson's charges had other ideas, however, as Jack Kenny finished coolly past Dave Roberts with a quarter of an hour gone and the game levelled out somewhat from this point onwards as the midfield battle intensified and dominated proceedings until halftime.
The second half didn't kick off with quite the same tempo as the first, but it suddenly sparked into life just before the hour-mark as Prestatyn set off on a counter-attack and won a corner which Ben Maher went on to score from, with his diving header beating Roberts to make it 2-1.
Llandudno then made a double-substitution to try and get themselves immediately back on level terms, and it was one of their substitutes who did just that ten minutes later as Lee Thomas' header found the bottom corner and the scene was set for a fascinating final 20 minutes.
It was the visitors who went closest to finding a winner in regulation time, as Danny Taylor was forced to make a goal-line clearance with 84 minutes played, but Jones was put to work in Prestatyn's goal too, as Toby Jones' shot needed a strong save and the scores finished at 2-2.
