Citizens Add Humphreys & Vieira to Ranks

Bangor City is delighted to announce the arrival of defender River Humphreys and midfielder Pavel Vieira to the Bangor University Stadium ahead of the transfer deadline.

Humphreys, 25, was crowned the winner of the Fiat Professional Tradesman Trials 2016 from 20 finalists in a search to find a current tradesman who has the talent to make it as a professional footballer in the English Football League.

Former tradesman turned professional footballers Stuart Pearce (electrician), Dean Windass (hod carrier) and Geoff Horsfield (builder) put the trialists through their paces, testing every aspect of their footballing ability.

Stuart Pearce commented, “After putting all the players through their paces in the morning, it was clear that River was head and shoulders above the rest of the competition.

"His temperament and decision-making was absolutely top-class, and we’re all delighted for him. He’s a worthy winner.”

Previously a runner-up on TV competition Wayne Rooney’s Street Striker, Humphreys began his footballing career as an academy player at both Everton and Wrexham.

The former Runcorn Linnets player elected to spend his one-month trial with League One club Rochdale in a bid to earn himself a professional contract. Dale Manager Keith Hill gave the defender the opportunity to be fully inclusive in the first team training schedule and the matchday squad. He featured for Rochdale in their pre-season friendlies against AFC Fylde, Curzon Ashton, Macclesfield Town and FC United.

24-year old midfielder Pavel Vieira, a Guinea Bissau international, began his football career in the youth ranks at Estoril Praia, Farense and SC Olhanense in Portugal. He then signed professional terms with SC Olhanense as a teenager going on to feature for several Portuguese clubs.

Vieira has also appeared for Spanish Segunda División B club CD Leonesa before spells with Prescot Cables and Nelson FC of the North West Counties Football League.

Bangor City FC would like to take this opportunity to welcome River and Pavel to the Bangor University Stadium and the Dafabet Welsh Premier League.
