Nomads win keeps them on the Euro Route

GOALS just before and just after half time kept top-five club Connah's Quay Nomads on the European route, whilst Caernarfon were condemned to their seventh game without a win.

To make matters worse Town had defender Lee Bamber - resuming action after a ban - ordered off just five minutes after appearing as a sub. Bamber fell foul of Merthyr Tydfil referee Wayne Tregonning on 72 minutes for a late tackle on Nomads' Gary Pinch.

Adam Dickinson's goal, after 43 minutes, was squeezed under Town's busy 'keeper Paul Pritchard from 10 yards' range, after two home players had blundered over an intended clearance. Chris Williams doubled Nomads' authority soon after the break, producing a shot from similar range to connect firmly with Marc Limbert's corner from the left, which had followed Eifion Jones' diversion of Craig Garside's drive.

At other times Pritchard denied the goal-hungry Connah's Quay forwards. Caernarfon were on the back foot early on when Limbert and Tommy Mutton put in good-looking efforts for Nomads, but home striker Chris Jones also looked likely until being denied at the last gasp by Pinch's intervention.

Another Town raider Darren Wright was halted six yards from the target by a crucial block and the same player found the Connah's Quay net in the second half, only for the effort to be disallowed.
