Shaun Kelly: 2010/2011 Biography & Statistics

Shaun Kelly is a central defender who joined Bala Town from Burton Albion at the start of the 2010/11 season after playing previously for Chester City. A towering header of a ball and strong defender who can hit a rocket of a free kick, Kelly became an instant first-choice player at the back for the Lakesiders.

A product of Chester's youth system he made his Football League debut as a late substitute against Shrewsbury Town on 15 April 2007 and went on to make 39 appearances for the club.

He joined Conference North side Vauxhall Motors on loan to gain first-team experience and eventually left Chester in early 2010, when they were expelled from the Conference National.

He joined Port Vale on trial in March 2010 and put in an impressive display in a 2-1 home win for the reserves over Burton Albion, also managing to get onto the score sheet. The performance impressed Burton manager Paul Peschisolido enough to offer him a contract until the end of the season, but after just four games, he was released at the end of the season and joined Bala.
