Sub Cavanagh Claims point for Citizens

Following the postponement of the match between Aberystwyth Town and Carmarthen Town, the only Dafabet Welsh Premier League game of the evening was played at the Bangor University Stadium as third placed Bala Town were the visitors.

City came from behind to claim a share of the spoils and the point was enough for the Citizens to climb up to seventh in the table.

Bangor City made one change with Ryan Edwards replacing Christian Langos and it was the hardworking midfielder who created the first chance of the evening, but his cross to Michael Elstone was volleyed over.

Bala had two good chances in the opening half hour, but Citizens 'keeper Connor Roberts denied Anthony Stephens at a corner before Mike Hayes was stopped in his tracks by City skipper Leon Clowes.

The deadlock was broken on 35 minutes though as Ian Sheridan capitalised to tap home for Bala after Lee Hunt's shot was parried.

It was almost 2-0 before the break but Kieran Smith was denied by the post, then from a Bangor counter attack, Ashley Morris saved well from Ryan Edwards on the stroke of half time as the Lakesiders maintained their 1-0 advantage at the interval.

After the break, the aluminium came to Bala's rescue as Sion Edwards went close with a freekick. At the other end, Town has several chances but were unable to convert.

Bangor boss Nev Powell made changes with Langos and youngster Shaun Cavanagh coming on and it was the Welsh Colleges striker who scored his first senior goal on 81 minutes, volleying home from a Sion Edwards cross to restore parity.

There was one final chance for the Lakesiders to win it, but keeper Connor Roberts was again to the rescue for the hosts, saving from Sheridan.
