Saints Title hopes Suffer Setback

THE Saints' title hopes suffered a setback after dropping two points at lowly Newtown.

Having not scored in their last six home meetings against the defending champions, the hosts took a two-goal lead in the first half hour via Sean Highdale and Steve Jones, as management duo Andy Cale and Lee Williams scented a win against the club they left last season.

Highdale toe-poked his first goal for the club on eight minutes while Jones cut in from the left before shooting inside the near post. But Saints reduced the arrears when Matty Williams fired his 15th league goal of the campaign from the edge of the box.

And after the break, they pushed forward with greater urgency, Chris Sharp rattling the bar before earning parity 12 minutes from time, Aeron Edwards finding the net after the ball bounced off the bar, though he was injured in the scramble.
