Walters strikes late to claim point for Old Gold

It was honours even at Park Avenue, in front of a strong 732 crowd as the visitors scored late to claim a point. The Old Gold's Nick Harrhy put the visitors ahead in the sixth minute, continuing where he left off last week when he scored a brace against Bala. Sasha Walters' corner was flicked on, and Harrhy headed home at the far post.

Carmarthen's pace coming forward was worrying Aber's back four, but the hosts improved, and Steff Edwards curled in an exquisite right footed shot into the top corner to equalize eleven minutes later, to the delight of the majority of the crowd. It was end to end football from then on; Luke Sherbon had a shot turned over the bar, Lewis Codling was denied in a one on one by Carmarthen's goalkeeper Mike Lewis, and at the other Steve Cann got down very well to deny Harrhy just before the break.

Carmarthen looked the stronger team in the second half but they missed a series of chances. Harrhy was very unlucky to see his shot come back off the far post, and Tim Hicks headed a great chance straight at Steve Cann.

Aber looked then to have punished the visitors when sub Anthony Finselbach crossed from the right, found Codling in the area, and the forward from Liverpool feinted before scoring down to Lewis' right, with twenty four minutes to go. Harrhy then blasted over from inches as the visitors pressed for the equalizer, and they got their just desserts when Walters nipped in to notch a near post header on 86 minutes

The atmosphere was boosted by the presence of 250 students due to a Promotional Evening and it certainly worked for the Seasiders as it was the club's biggest attendance in over two years.
