Record beating for Carmarthen in Welsh Premier

FEW could have predicted such a one-sided affair at Park Hall as Carmarthen's season is on the point of collapse after the worst defeat in their history.

The victory almost certainly means that Saints, not Deryn Brace's side, will claim the League's last Uefa Europa league tournament in the summer. It was a record Welsh Premier scoreline for the hosts, eclipsing the 8-1 triumph over Briton Ferry during the 1996/97 season.

The visitors conceded two penalties at the tail end of the first half - John Leah converting both - and Craig Williams (47) added the third. Carmarthen were reduced to 10 men before half-time when Mark Dodds was sent off, then to nine early in the second-half when Liam Hancock saw red.

The goal avalanche intensified with Darlington, Steve Evans, Scott Ruscoe and substitutes John Toner and Craig Whitfield adding to Carmarthen's woes.
