Citizens Strike Six against Hapless Nomads

Bangor City manager Nev Powell has now masterminded a hat-trick of wins over Gap Connah's Quay this season following on from four successes last term. That's a total of seven wins out of seven, since he switched to Farrar Road after 14 years on Deeside.

City took only nine minutes to open their account by means of Sharp's firm header at the back post, following Dave Swanick's looping cross from the right wing.

Connahs Quay found the net on 21 minutes, but Liam Loughlin was whistled up for offside, and there were no complaints, while the home team's Chris Seargeant floated a free-kick on to the bar at the other end. Bangor's blitz came late in the first half when they transformed the win into a rout by netting three times in four minutes.

Sharp netted with a close-range chip on 42 minutes, Les Davies powered a left-angled drive in on 45 and Sharp provided another delicate flick during added time for his third.

More of the same followed three minutes into the second half when Peter Hoy produced a typical centre-back's headed goal from a corner and newcomer Paul McManus burst clear for his contribution on 74 on his Citizens' debut.
