Hughes has Last Laugh for Old Gold

Over 800 spectators braved the rain and wind-swept conditions to witness new signing Craig Hughes make the best possible start to his second stint at Richmond Park with two goals as Carmarthen Town beat Aberystwyth to climb up to fourth in the Principality Welsh Premier League table.

The Wales Semi Professional striker, who returned to the club last week from Newport County, scored the opening goal after just nine minutes with an angled shot over the defence into the top corner of the net and he then grabbed the winner with only six minutes left in the match. The Old Gold led at the break, but Chris Venables equalised on 57 minutes, only for Hughes to have the last laugh.
