Llanelli reduced Rhyl's lead at the top of the Principality Welsh Premier League to just two points with a comfortable 4-1 win over Carmarthen Town at Richmond Park on Tuesday night. The result perfectly sets up Saturday's Live TV Showdown between the Title Contenders who meet at Stebonheath Park at 5:30.
The Reds suffered an early set-back with the loss of midfielder Antonio Corbisiero who is now a doubt for Saturday and he was replaced by Jordan Follows. The young striker was Man of the Match on Friday night at Haverfordwest, but he was relegated to the bench for this game. The talented teenager immediately proved a point to his boss, by scoring the opener on 14 minutes. The hosts were on level terms on 27 minutes, when Llanelli born and bred winger Stuart Roberts equalised for Carmarthen.
The Reds managed to restore their advantage before the interval, when defender Wyn Thomas made it 2-1 with his sixth goal of the season. Things got better for the current Champions after the break as Stephen Evans made it 3-1 on the hour and Rhys Griffiths struck the fourth, just three minutes later to cap another fine night and an eighth straight League win for the Reds.
