Alston Sparks Nomads Comeback to Beat Reds

<1r>The Nomads staged a spirited second-half performance to beat Champions Llanelli 3-1 at the Deeside Stadium.

Andy Legg scored direct from a corner for the Reds on 17 minutes with a deep in-swinger and the Reds were almost 2-0 up when Legg's next corner was met by the head of Rhys Griffiths, who rattled the cross bar.

Chris Maxwell saved well from Andy Mumford shortly afterwards, which would have impressed the watching Wales Youth Manager, Brian Flynn. Liam Loughlin's volley from the edge of the box tested Craig Morris just before the beak but the Reds maintained their lead at the interval.

The second period belonged to the Nomads though as Andy Alston equalised with a 50th-minute looping header from a good Phil Clarke cross. This strike was quickly followed by a tremendous Peter Doran strike from 20 yards after a Kieran Quinn lay-off. Substitute Jordan Follows was denied the equaliser when his goalbound strike was handled by Alston, who was given his marching orders. However, from the resulting spot-kick, Rhys Griffiths was denied by an excellent Maxwell save. Sub Mike Cronshaw sealed the win three minutes from time when Craig Jones laid the ball on a plate for him to finish.
