McKenna's Incentive does trick for Saints

Report from TNS Official Website

THE New Saints' manager Ken McKenna hailed Saturday's 3-0 success at Carmarthen which saw his men leap-frog the Old Gold into third place in the Welsh Premier.

"t was a fantastic win as we have not had a good record here," he said. "We looked a bit jaded in the first half after a long journey down in the morning but stepped things up after the break with three quick goals. It was always going to be difficult for them to come back from that."

It took the Saints just over 46 minutes to open their account and they went on to produce a much better second-half performance to seal the points with goals from Michael Wilde, Steven Beck and Chris King.

And McKenna revealed the incentive of an extra day off helped inspire his side to victory. "I had a few words at half time and told the lads they could have Monday off if they won and it seemed to do the trick!" he added.
